About this book
An Andalusian shepherd chases a dream of treasure near the Egyptian pyramids, but every stop on the road strips away money, certainty, and the life he knows. He has to decide whether the signs are leading him forward or merely toward one more loss.
What you'll learn
- Identify the choices that turn a vague dream into a real commitment, so you can see where hesitation becomes action.
- Trace how Santiago reads omens, setbacks, and unexpected help as part of one continuous path instead of separate accidents.
- Recognize how love, work, and risk are woven into the same pursuit, rather than treated as competing lives.
A taste of chapter 1
Chapter 1
Santiago wakes with his flock close enough that he can hear them shift and breathe. His days begin the same way most days do. He checks the sheep, gathers what he needs, and moves on across the countryside of Andalusia, always walking, always watching for where grass and water will be next. He owns little on purpose. The work keeps him outdoors and on the road, and he measures his life by distance traveled and places slept, not by a house he returns to.
That choice sets him apart from the path people expected. Santiago comes from a family that could have pushed him toward a settled job and a settled future. Instead, he chooses a life where he decides his direction each morning.
